❌ Who is not eligible?

You cannot use this service if you:

• Are under 18 or over 65

• Are pregnant or breastfeeding

• Have kidney or liver impairment

• Have cardiovascular diseases: past heart attack, ischaemic heart disease, coronary vasospasm, peripheral vascular disease

• Have cerebrovascular diseases: history of stroke or TIA

• Have moderate/severe hypertension or uncontrolled mild hypertension

• Have hemiplegic, basilar, or ophthalmoplegic migraine

• Have atypical headaches or chronic migraine

• Are on medications like ergotamine, MAO inhibitors, certain antidepressants, or specific antibiotics/antifungals that interact with triptans

• Sumatriptan: 50mg or 100mg tablets, 20mg nasal spray

• Rizatriptan: 10mg tablets

• Zolmitriptan: 2.5mg tablets, 5mg nasal spray

⚠️ Key Treatment Guidance

• For acute migraine attacks only – not for long-term prevention

• Take as early as possible after migraine starts

• If symptoms return, a second dose can be taken after at least 2 hours (max 2 doses in 24 hours)

• If no response to first dose, do not repeat – switch to alternative painkillers (paracetamol, NSAIDs)

• Avoid using triptans on more than 10 days per month to prevent medication overuse headache (MOH)
