Who it is for

Adults and adolescents over 12 with dandruff, flaking or an itchy scalp.
People who have cleared their dandruff and want a once-every-1-to-2-weeks maintenance wash.

Not suitable for: Do not use if you have ever had a bad reaction to ketoconazole or any of the other ingredients. Not for children under 12. If you have been using a steroid lotion or cream on your scalp, reduce it gradually over 2 to 3 weeks as you start Nizoral, and ask a pharmacist if unsure. The shampoo contains sodium lauryl ether sulphate, which may cause stinging or burning on the skin. It can be used in pregnancy and while breastfeeding.

How to use

Read the label and Patient Information Leaflet (PIL) before use.
Wet the hair thoroughly, apply a small amount of shampoo to the scalp and massage into a lather.
Leave the lather on the scalp for 3 to 5 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
To treat dandruff: use every 3 or 4 days for 2 to 4 weeks.
To stop it coming back: use once every 1 to 2 weeks.
If your scalp has not cleared within 4 weeks, speak to a pharmacist or doctor. Do not use more often than directed; use your normal shampoo in between.

What side effects can it cause?

Uncommonly, scalp itching, irritation, dryness or burning, inflamed hair follicles, hair loss or a change in hair texture. Stop and see a doctor if you get swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat.
