๐ก What is the Hepatitis B Vaccine?
The Hepatitis B vaccine helps protect against hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection by stimulating the immune system to produce antibodies against the surface antigen (HBsAg). It is widely used and proven to be both safe and effective, offering over 90% protection when the full vaccination course is completed.
๐ Available Vaccines
We offer two main options:
Engerix B (by GlaxoSmithKline): a recombinant hepatitis B vaccine typically given as a 3-dose schedule.
HBvaxPRO (by Sanofi Pasteur MSD): another recombinant vaccine, administered in 2 or 3 doses depending on age and clinical guidance.
Once vaccinated, the body produces anti-HBs antibodies that protect against hepatitis B infection.
๐ Why Get Vaccinated?
Hepatitis B is a common and serious infectious virus that can lead to liver inflammation, cirrhosis, or liver cancer.
Benefits of vaccination:
Prevent infection: The vaccine is one of the most effective ways to prevent hepatitis B.
Reduce complications: Vaccination lowers the risk of developing liver-related diseases.
Protect your family and community: Hepatitis B spreads through blood and bodily fluids โ vaccination helps stop transmission.
