Frequently asked questions
How quickly does Ventolin start to work?
Salbutamol acts within about 5 minutes of inhalation, with the peak effect at about 30 to 60 minutes and a duration of action of around 4 to 6 hours. It is a reliever, not a preventer, and does not treat the underlying inflammation of asthma.
How often is it safe to use a reliever inhaler?
Needing a reliever inhaler more than three times a week, waking at night with symptoms, or needing to use it before most activity all indicate that asthma is not well controlled. This means a GP or asthma nurse review is needed rather than an additional reliever inhaler.
Can I use Ventolin in pregnancy or while breastfeeding?
Salbutamol is widely used in pregnancy when the clinical benefit outweighs the risk, including during acute asthma attacks. The pharmacist will assess this individually during the consultation and will not refuse supply automatically.
What side effects should I be aware of?
Common side effects include fine tremor (especially in the hands), headache, increased heart rate or palpitations, muscle cramps, and mild throat irritation. Seek urgent medical advice if breathing symptoms worsen after a dose, or if you develop chest pain or signs of an allergic reaction.
What if my inhaler doesn't seem to be helping during an attack?
If a usual dose does not give the usual relief, do not keep increasing the puffs at home. Take emergency steps as set out in your personal asthma action plan and seek urgent medical help. Call 999 if you have severe breathlessness, cannot speak in full sentences, or your lips look blue.
How should the Ventolin Evohaler be stored?
Store below 30 degrees Celsius, protected from direct sunlight and frost. Do not puncture, break or burn the canister, even when it appears empty. Keep out of reach of children.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are there any tips to prevent asthma attacks alongside Ventolin use?
Yes, preventing asthma attacks involves avoiding known triggers, taking daily preventer inhalers if prescribed, and monitoring your breathing regularly. Keeping your reliever inhaler like Ventolin nearby is important for quick relief. For personalised support, click Start Consultation to begin.
What happens after I place an order for a Ventolin inhaler?
After you complete your consultation and make a payment, our team reviews your answers for safety and suitability. If everything is in order, your prescription is approved and the Ventolin Evohaler is shipped directly to you. If not, our pharmacist will recommend an alternative.
How do I order a Ventolin Evohaler from Ways Pharmacy?
Simply click Start Consultation, choose Ventolin Evohaler, and complete the short health questionnaire. After payment, our admin team will assess your order to ensure the medication is safe and appropriate. If another treatment is more suitable, a pharmacist will offer alternatives. Once approved, your inhaler will be dispatched, no further steps required.
What causes asthma symptoms and how does salbutamol help?
Asthma symptoms are often triggered by allergens, exercise, cold air, or respiratory infections, leading to inflamed and narrowed airways. Salbutamol in the Ventolin Evohaler quickly relaxes the muscles in the airways to help you breathe more easily. To begin treatment, click Start Consultation.
What is the Ventolin Evohaler and what symptoms does it treat?
The Ventolin Evohaler contains salbutamol, a fast-acting bronchodilator used to relieve symptoms of asthma and other breathing conditions, such as wheezing, coughing, and shortness of breath. It works quickly to open up the airways during asthma attacks or flare-ups. If you rely on a reliever inhaler, click Start Consultation to get started.
