Rabeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used to treat gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), a common condition that causes frequent heartburn and acid regurgitation. By blocking acid production in the stomach, Rabeprazole provides fast and sustained relief from symptoms such as chest discomfort, sour taste in the mouth, and indigestion.
Through our private pharmacy service, adults aged 18 and over can access a 10mg dose of Rabeprazole following a short medical assessment conducted by a trained pharmacist. This treatment is suitable for individuals experiencing regular reflux symptoms or those with a previous diagnosis of GORD.
This service is intended for:
Adults aged 18 and over
Those experiencing frequent acid reflux, heartburn, or regurgitation
Individuals previously diagnosed with GORD or who have responded well to PPIs before
Patients preferring to manage their condition without needing a GP visit
If you’ve been experiencing symptoms multiple times per week, especially after meals or while lying down, Rabeprazole can offer meaningful relief and reduce the risk of oesophageal damage.
You should not take this medicine if you:
If any of the above apply, or your symptoms persist beyond 4 weeks, you should consult your GP for further investigation, including potential endoscopy.
Rabeprazole is well-tolerated, but some people may experience:
Long-term use may require occasional GP monitoring for magnesium, calcium, and vitamin B12 levels. Rare side effects include allergic reactions, liver enzyme changes, and increased infection risk (e.g. C. difficile, pneumonia). Seek medical attention if you experience severe symptoms or allergic reactions.
This is a Prescription Only Medicine (POM) supplied under pharmacist supervision. Use only as directed and do not exceed the prescribed dose. If your symptoms change or worsen, seek medical evaluation immediately.
