Who it is for
- Men aged 18 and over with erectile dysfunction who are willing to complete a pharmacist assessment.
- Men whose suitability for sildenafil our pharmacist has confirmed.
Not suitable for: Anyone under 18 years, and women. Do not take if you are allergic to sildenafil or any other ingredient; if you take nitrates or nitric oxide donors such as amyl nitrite; if you take riociguat or another guanylate cyclase stimulator; if you take ritonavir for HIV; if you have severe heart or liver problems, low blood pressure, or have recently had a stroke or heart attack; if your doctor has advised you to avoid sexual activity for heart or circulation reasons; or if you have had serious loss of vision or a rare inherited eye disease. Tell the pharmacist before supply if you get chest pain or breathlessness on mild activity, have an irregular heartbeat, uncontrolled high blood pressure, a deformity of the penis, a stomach ulcer or a bleeding disorder, liver problems, severe kidney problems, if you have had an erection lasting more than 4 hours, or if you use any other treatment for erectile dysfunction.
How to use
- Read the label and Patient Information Leaflet (PIL) before use.
- Do not take this medicine until our pharmacist has confirmed that it is suitable for you.
- Take one tablet with water about one hour before sexual activity. It may be taken between 30 minutes and 4 hours beforehand.
- Swallow the tablet whole. Sexual stimulation is needed for it to work.
- Do not take more than one tablet in any 24-hour period.
- Speak to a pharmacist or doctor if it does not help you, if you get side effects, or before you take it alongside any other medicine.

How long before sexual activity should I take it?
About one hour beforehand. It can be taken between 30 minutes and 4 hours before sexual activity.
How many tablets can I take in a day?
One 50mg tablet in any 24-hour period. Do not take more than one tablet a day.
Can I take it with nitrates or amyl nitrite?
No. Sildenafil must not be taken with nitrates, nitric oxide donors such as amyl nitrite, or riociguat. Tell the pharmacist about every medicine you take.
What should I do if an erection lasts more than 4 hours?
Seek medical help straight away. A prolonged erection needs urgent treatment.
Safety and storage
- Do not take with nitrates, nitric oxide donors or riociguat. Tell the pharmacist about all medicines you take, including any bought without a prescription.
- Seek urgent medical advice if you get chest pain during or after sexual activity, a sudden loss of vision or hearing, or an erection lasting more than 4 hours.
- Sildenafil does not protect against sexually transmitted infections.
- Store in the original packaging to protect from moisture.
- Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
- Read the PIL. Report suspected side effects through the MHRA Yellow Card scheme.
