Frequently asked questions
Do I need a prescription for Viagra Connect?
No. Viagra Connect is a pharmacy (P) medicine, not a prescription-only medicine, so a prescription is not required. However, a pharmacy-led consultation is mandatory before supply, and the pharmacist may decline to dispense if it is not clinically suitable.
When does Viagra Connect start to work?
Onset is typically within 30 to 60 minutes of taking the tablet, and the effect can last up to about four hours. Sexual stimulation is required for an erection to occur.
Can I take Viagra Connect with other medicines?
It must not be taken with nitrates, nitric oxide donors or riociguat. List all other medicines including over-the-counter products, herbal remedies and supplements in the consultation questionnaire so the pharmacist can confirm there are no interactions.
What are the common side effects?
The most commonly reported side effects are headache, facial flushing, indigestion, nasal congestion and altered vision. Full side-effect information is in the Patient Information Leaflet, which should be read before starting the medicine.
What should I do if a tablet does not work?
Do not take a second tablet in the same 24-hour period. If the medicine does not produce the expected effect on more than one occasion, speak to a pharmacist or GP rather than self-adjusting the dose.
How should Viagra Connect be stored?
Store at room temperature in the original blister, away from moisture and direct light. Keep out of reach of children.
