• Pregnant or breastfeeding

• Under 18 years of age

• Has taken antacids or reflux medicine continuously for 4 weeks or more

• Over 55 with new or recently changed digestive symptoms

• Has any of the following symptoms:

  • Unexplained weight loss

  • Recurrent vomiting

  • Difficulty swallowing

  • Black stool or vomiting blood

• Has suspected stomach cancer, ulcer, GI bleeding, or anaemia from chronic blood loss

• Has had stomach surgery or previously diagnosed ulcer

• Takes medicines that may interact with PPIs (e.g. warfarin, methotrexate, clopidogrel – assessed by pharmacist)

• Medication: Esomeprazole 20mg

• Form: Gastro-resistant capsules or tablets (swallow whole, do not crush)

• Usage: 1 tablet once daily, ideally in the morning

• Initial supply: 28 tablets
