Who it is for
- Adults and children from 3 months with a healed scar from surgery, injury or a burn
- People who want to start scar care as soon as a wound has closed or the stitches are out
- Those who prefer a self-drying gel that can be worn under sunscreen or make-up
Not suitable for: Avoid direct contact with the eyes, mucous membranes, third-degree burns and open wounds. Do not use it on dermatological conditions that disrupt the integrity of the skin. For external use only. If irritation occurs, stop using it and consult your doctor.
How to use
- Read the leaflet supplied with the product before use.
- Start once the wound is closed or the stitches have been removed, and make sure the area is clean and dry.
- Apply a very thin layer over the scar. Do not rub it in. Let it dry, which takes about five minutes.
- Wipe away any excess if it does not dry completely. Once dry, sunblock or cosmetics can be applied on top.
- Apply twice daily and continue for a minimum of 60 to 90 days. Older scars may take longer, so continue while you still see improvement.
Frequently asked questions
Which tube size should I choose?
Kelo-Cote suggests the 6g tube for scars up to 7.5cm and the 15g tube for scars between 7.5cm and 10cm. Each tube covers a 60 to 90 day course for that scar size.
Can it be used on children?
The gel is suitable for adults and children from 3 months, and for people with sensitive skin.
How long do I need to use it for?
The recommended minimum is 60 to 90 days of twice-daily use. Older scars can take longer, and you can keep using it while improvement continues.
Can I wear make-up or sunscreen over it?
Yes, once the gel has fully dried. Apply cosmetics or sunblock on top of the dry layer.
Will it wash off?
Once dry it forms a waterproof, flexible layer. Reapply as part of your twice-daily routine after washing the area.
Does it stain clothing?
It may stain clothing if it has not dried completely, so allow it to dry fully before dressing.
