Frequently asked questions
What does Pregnacare Original do?
Pregnacare provides a balanced blend of nutrients for pregnancy. Under the EU/UK Register of Health Claims, the folic acid it contains contributes to maternal tissue growth during pregnancy, vitamin D contributes to the normal function of the immune system, and zinc contributes to normal fertility and reproduction.
Why is the 400µg of folic acid important?
400µg is the daily amount of folic acid recommended by the UK Department of Health for women who are trying to conceive and in early pregnancy. Adequate folate intake helps raise maternal folate status; the Department of Health advises folic acid because of its recognised role in early development. Pregnacare provides exactly this 400µg level.
When should I start taking it and can I take it the whole way through?
You can start Pregnacare Original when trying to conceive and continue at any stage of pregnancy and while breastfeeding. It is a complete formula, so there is no need to take an additional multivitamin alongside it.
Does it contain vitamin A?
No. Pregnacare Original is free from vitamin A, in line with guidance that pregnant women should avoid high intakes of vitamin A. It also avoids excessive iron and other nutrients.
