The 2San COVID-19 & Flu nasal-swab self-test checks a nasal sample for SARS-CoV-2 and influenza A/B antigens. This pack contains one test. It is intended to help assess suspected infection in people with symptoms; results must be considered alongside symptoms and medical advice.
What is included
Single-use test cassette, extraction buffer tube, nasal swab and instructions. Read the instructions supplied with your particular kit before testing. Children need adult guidance and assistance.
How to use
- Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds and prepare a clean, level surface. Check expiry and the intact packaging.
- Use the same swab in both nostrils. Insert approximately 2cm or until slight resistance; do not force it or continue if painful. Rotate against the nasal wall 5–10 times in each nostril. Do not sample a damaged or bleeding nose.
- Put the swab into the extraction tube and stir while pressing against the bottom and sides for 10–15 seconds. Squeeze the tube as you remove the swab, then fit the dropper cap.
- Place the cassette flat and add three drops to each sample well. Read at 10 minutes; do not interpret after 20 minutes. Follow the supplied illustrated instructions if your kit differs.
Understanding the result
A control line is required in each result window. A control line plus the relevant test line, even a faint line, indicates a positive result for that target. Without the required control line, the result is invalid: repeat with a new test. A negative result does not rule out COVID-19, flu or another infection and does not prove that you cannot pass an infection on. If symptoms persist or you remain concerned, follow the kit’s repeat-testing advice and seek healthcare advice. Follow current NHS guidance after a positive result.
Warnings and storage
For nasal self-testing only; not a travel-clearance certificate. Do not reuse, freeze or use an expired or damaged kit. Keep buffer away from the mouth and eyes; rinse thoroughly after accidental eye contact and seek advice if needed. Store sealed at 2–30°C in a dry place, away from children. Place used components in a sealed bag and follow local waste instructions.
Frequently asked questions
Does a negative result mean I am definitely not infectious?
No. False negatives can occur, and the test does not check every cause of illness.
When should I read this test?
For the UK kit linked below, read at 10 minutes and do not interpret after 20 minutes. Always check the instructions in your supplied pack.
