- People with several symptoms at once — aches, headache, sore throat and a blocked nose

Not suitable for: children under 16; anyone allergic to the ingredients; people with heart disease, high blood pressure or an overactive thyroid; and anyone taking, or who has taken within the last 14 days, MAOI antidepressants or other sympathomimetic decongestants. Do not take with any other paracetamol-containing product. Speak to your pharmacist first if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking other medicines.
How to use
- Read the patient information leaflet inside the pack before you start, and check which capsules are the day capsules and which are the night capsules.
- Day capsules (red and yellow): adults and children aged 16 and over take 2 capsules every 4 to 6 hours during the day, up to a maximum of 3 doses (6 capsules) in the daytime.
- Night capsules (blue and red): take 2 capsules at night.
- Swallow all capsules whole with water. Do not exceed 8 capsules (4 doses) in any 24-hour period, counting day and night capsules together.
- If symptoms last more than a few days or get worse, speak to your pharmacist or doctor.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between the day and night capsules?
Both capsules contain paracetamol 500mg and phenylephrine 6.1mg. The day capsules also contain caffeine 25mg to help with daytime tiredness, while the night capsules contain no caffeine so they are more suitable for the evening.
How many Lemsip Max Day & Night capsules can I take a day?
Take 2 capsules every 4 to 6 hours, using day capsules in the daytime and night capsules at night. Do not take more than 8 capsules in 24 hours in total, counting day and night capsules together.
Can I take Lemsip Max Day & Night with paracetamol?
No. Every capsule contains 500mg of paracetamol, so you must not take it with any other paracetamol-containing product. Combining paracetamol products risks a serious overdose.
Will the night capsules make me drowsy?
According to the product information the night capsules do not contain a sedating (drowsy) ingredient; they are simply the caffeine-free version of the day capsule. Always check the leaflet inside your pack, as formulations can be updated.
Can I take Lemsip Max Day & Night with high blood pressure?
Not without checking first. Both capsules contain the decongestant phenylephrine, which can raise blood pressure, so they are not suitable if you have heart disease, high blood pressure or an overactive thyroid unless a pharmacist or doctor has advised you.
