Who it is for
- People with diabetes who test their blood glucose at home with a finger-prick meter.
- Anyone who wants a lancing device with no loose lancets to load or handle and an adjustable depth setting.
- Owners of an Accu-Chek Instant meter who need a replacement or spare FastClix device.
Not suitable for: Not for use by healthcare professionals to test more than one person – the device has no features to guard against cross-infection and must only ever be used by one individual. Not a toy: keep away from children unless they are being supervised while testing. Check with your diabetes team if you are unsure which lancing depth to use.
How to use
- Read the user manual supplied with the device before first use. Wash and dry your hands.
- Remove the cap, insert a FastClix lancet drum, then replace the cap.
- Turn the depth dial to choose one of the 11 settings. Start on a low setting (for example 2) and increase only if you do not get enough blood.
- Press the device firmly against the side of your fingertip and press the release button once – the one-click action primes and fires the lancet.
- After each test, slide the lever back and forth to move to a fresh lancet. The counter window shows how many lancets remain.
- Use all 6 lancets before removing the drum – a drum cannot be reinserted once removed. Dispose of the used drum as your local council advises (Roche states it can go in household waste; no sharps bin is needed).
Frequently asked questions
Does the Accu-Chek FastClix come with lancets?
Yes. This pack contains the lancing device and one pre-loaded drum of 6 lancets. Further drums are sold separately as Accu-Chek FastClix lancets (for example packs of 24 or 204 lancets).
Which lancets fit the FastClix?
Only Accu-Chek FastClix lancet drums. Roche states the FastClix lancets can only be used with the FastClix lancing device, and the device does not take loose single lancets.
Can more than one person use the same device?
No. It is intended for self-monitoring by one individual only. It has no features to protect against cross-infection, so it must not be shared or used to collect blood from more than one person.
Which depth setting should I use?
Roche suggests starting on a low setting, such as 2, and turning to a higher number only if you do not get enough blood. Thicker or harder skin usually needs a deeper setting.
Can I take the drum out and put it back in later?
No. Once a drum is removed it cannot be reinserted, for hygiene reasons. Use all 6 lancets before removing it.
How do I clean the device?
Remove the drum first and wipe the outside of the device as described in the user manual, making sure no liquid gets into any opening. Clean it regularly and whenever it is visibly dirty. Do not store it somewhere very hot or cold, such as a car.
Safety and storage

- Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
