Anusol Ointment is a soothing ointment containing zinc oxide, bismuth subgallate, bismuth oxide and Peru balsam, for the symptomatic relief of uncomplicated internal and external haemorrhoids (piles), pruritus ani, proctitis and fissures. Sold by Ways Pharmacy (UK).

Who it is for

Adults with the soreness, itching and discomfort of internal or external piles.
Adults who need symptomatic relief of anal itching, proctitis or an anal fissure.

Not suitable for: Do not use it if you are allergic to zinc oxide, bismuth subgallate, bismuth oxide, Peru balsam or any of the other ingredients. It is not recommended for children. See a doctor before use if you have rectal bleeding or blood in your stools, as this can point to a more serious condition. Use it during pregnancy or breastfeeding only if your doctor advises it.

How to use

Read the label and Patient Information Leaflet (PIL) before use.
Wash and dry the affected area.
For external piles, apply the ointment to the affected area, on a gauze dressing if you prefer.
For internal piles, fit the rectal nozzle to the tube, insert it gently and squeeze the tube while withdrawing it. Remove and clean the nozzle after each use.
Apply at night, in the morning and after each bowel movement until the condition is controlled.
Do not take it by mouth. See a doctor if your symptoms do not improve or get worse.
