Anusol Soothing Relief Ointment - 15g

Anusol Soothing Relief Ointment 15g is a pharmacy medicine for short-term relief of uncomplicated internal and external piles and associated itching. It contains hydrocortisone acetate 0.25% to reduce inflammation, with other protective and soothing ingredients.

Ingredients

Active ingredients per 100g: hydrocortisone acetate 0.25g, zinc oxide 10.75g, bismuth subgallate 2.25g, bismuth oxide 0.875g, balsam Peru 1.875g and benzyl benzoate 1.25g. Contains lanolin; check the full leaflet if sensitive to ingredients.

How to use

Adults over 18: clean and gently dry the area, then apply sparingly morning and night and after bowel movements, no more than four times daily for a maximum of seven days. For internal use, follow the supplied nozzle instructions and clean the nozzle after use. Not for under-18s. Do not swallow.

Warnings and precautions

• Do not use if allergic to ingredients, during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or on tuberculous, fungal or viral skin lesions.
• Ask a doctor before treating rectal bleeding or blood in stools. Seek advice if symptoms worsen, keep returning or have not improved after seven days.
• Tell a doctor or pharmacist about other corticosteroids and medicines such as ritonavir or cobicistat, which can increase steroid effects. Contact a doctor for blurred vision or other visual disturbances.
• Stop if irritation or allergy occurs. Prolonged or excessive use of topical steroids can thin skin; keep to the stated duration and amount.
