Who it is for
- Households managing eczema or chronically dry skin who get through emollient quickly and want a larger, better-value pump
- People who apply emollient over large areas or the whole body and need a generous supply
- Families wanting one fragrance-free, paraffin-free cream that suits adults, children and babies from birth
- People who find a pump bottle more hygienic and easier to dispense than a tube for frequent daily use
Not suitable for: anyone allergic to colloidal oatmeal (oats) or any other ingredient on the label. Avoid broken, weeping or infected skin and keep away from the eyes. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, ask your pharmacist before use. This is an emollient, not a treatment that cures eczema or psoriasis.
How to use
- If using for the first time, test a small amount on an unaffected area of skin and leave for up to 48 hours to check for irritation.
- Dispense from the pump and apply liberally to affected and dry areas as often as required, or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.
- Smooth gently in the direction of hair growth — do not rub in hard, as this can irritate the skin.
- Reapply after bathing or showering to lock in moisture, and throughout the day whenever skin feels dry or tight.
- To use as a soap substitute, smooth onto wet skin in place of soap, then rinse. For external use only; avoid the eyes.
Frequently asked questions
Is the 500ml pump the same cream as the 100ml tube?
Yes, it is the same AproDerm Colloidal Oat Cream formulation. The 500ml pump is simply the larger, better-value size for households that use emollient frequently or over large areas of skin.
Can it be used for psoriasis and eczema?
It is an emollient used to moisturise and relieve dryness and itch in conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. It supports the skin barrier but does not cure these conditions. If your skin is not controlled, speak to your pharmacist or GP about additional treatment.
How often can I apply it?
Emollients can be applied as often as needed, including several times a day. Frequent, generous use is the reason the 500ml pump is a practical size for ongoing dry-skin and eczema care.
Is it suitable for babies and the whole family?
Yes. The cream is fragrance-free and paraffin-free and is suitable for the whole family from birth, including babies and children. Avoid the eye area and broken skin.
Is it a steroid?
No. It is an emollient moisturiser classed as a medical device, not a steroid or a medicine. It works by moisturising the skin and helping to relieve dryness and itch.
Safety and storage
- For external use only. If accidentally swallowed, seek medical advice immediately.
- Do not use if you are allergic to colloidal oatmeal or any ingredient on the label. Avoid contact with the eyes.
- Emollients can make surfaces, clothing and dressings slippery and more easily flammable — keep away from naked flames.
- Store below 25 degrees C. Do not refrigerate or freeze. Keep away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children.
- Do not use after the expiry date printed on the pack. If symptoms persist or worsen, speak to your pharmacist or GP.
