Bazuka Sub-Zero is a home-use freeze treatment for warts and verrucas on the hands and feet, based on the cryotherapy method used by doctors. It freezes the wart or verruca to its core so that it loosens and falls off. For adults and children aged 4 years and over, sold by Ways Pharmacy (UK).

Not suitable for: Children under 4 years; anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding; people with diabetes or circulation disorders; damaged, irritated or infected skin. Never use on dark spots, birthmarks, moles or hairy outgrowths, or on delicate areas such as the face, armpits, breasts, genitals, anus, mouth, nose, lips, ears or around the eyes. Do not combine with any other wart or verruca treatment. If you are not sure the growth is a wart or verruca, ask a pharmacist, nurse or doctor first.
How to use
- Read the instruction leaflet fully and familiarise yourself with assembling the device before you start.
- For verrucas, soak the foot in warm water for at least 6 minutes, dry, then file the hard layer with an emery board or pumice stone.
- Insert a fresh foam applicator into the hollow spout, fit the safety cap in the ON position, turn the can upside down on a firm surface and press the dome cap for 1 second to charge the applicator.
- Immediately hold the cold foam tip on the centre of the wart or verruca with gentle, constant pressure for the contact time in the leaflet table: 10 seconds (under 2.5mm), 15 seconds (2.5–5mm) or 20 seconds (over 5mm) for warts; up to twice that time for verrucas on the heel or ball of the foot. Halve the time for children aged 4 to 11 or delicate skin.
- Leave the assembly for 3 minutes to warm up, then remove and discard the applicator with a tissue. Use a new applicator for each wart and never re-use one.
- Expect the area to turn white then red with some stinging. In most cases the wart falls off within 10–14 days. If needed, repeat after 2 weeks, up to 4 treatments in total; if it persists after that, see a doctor.
Frequently asked questions
How many times can I use one can?
The can contains enough freezing agent for 12 applications and comes with 12 single-use foam applicators. Use a new applicator every time.
Does it hurt?
Freezing causes a cold, aching or stinging sensation that can take a few hours to fade. This is normal. Stop the treatment if the pain is severe.
How long until the verruca falls off?
A small blister forms under the wart or verruca in the days after freezing. In most cases the wart falls off after 10 to 14 days, revealing healthy skin underneath.
How often can I repeat the treatment?
Common warts usually need one treatment. If needed, repeat after 2 weeks. Verrucas are more resistant and may need 3 to 4 treatments at fortnightly intervals. Do not freeze the same wart or verruca more than 4 times in total; if it persists, consult a doctor.
Can I use it on my child?
Yes, from 4 years of age, but an adult must carry out the application. For children aged 4 to 11 a shorter contact time of half the recommended seconds may be advisable. Do not use on children under 4.
What should I do with the treated area afterwards?
Keep it clean. Do not pick, scratch or cut the wart and do not pierce any blister that forms; cover it with a plaster if necessary. You can shower, bathe and swim as normal.
Safety and storage
- Pressurised container: keep away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames and other ignition sources. No smoking. Do not pierce or burn, even after use.
- Protect from sunlight and do not expose to temperatures above 50°C.
- For external use only. Do not hold the applicator on a common wart for more than 20 seconds, or on a verruca for more than 40 seconds – excessive freezing can damage the surrounding skin.
- Temporary skin lightening at the treated area can occur and gradually returns to normal.
- Keep out of the sight and reach of children.
- Stop use and tell your doctor, nurse or pharmacist if you experience unacceptable pain, persistent irritation, infection or any other complication.
