Not suitable for: Anyone allergic to clotrimazole or any of the other ingredients; girls under 16 and women over 60 unless a doctor advises. See a doctor before use if this is your first episode of thrush, you have had more than two infections in the last 6 months, you are or may be pregnant, you or your partner have had a sexually transmitted infection, or you have irregular or abnormal vaginal bleeding, ulcers or blisters, lower abdominal pain, pain passing urine, fever or chills, nausea or vomiting, diarrhoea, or a foul-smelling discharge.
How to use
- Read the label and Patient Information Leaflet (PIL) before use.
- Wash your hands before and after use.
- Pessary: at night, load the pessary into the applicator and insert it as high as comfortably possible into the vagina, then withdraw the applicator. One pessary is a full course.
- Cream: apply thinly to the vulva and surrounding area 2 to 3 times a day, and continue until the itching and soreness have gone.
- If you are pregnant, insert the pessary with your finger rather than the applicator, and only after speaking to your doctor.
- If symptoms have not improved within 7 days, see your doctor.

How many pessaries do I need?
One. The 500mg pessary is a single-dose treatment inserted at night. The cream is used alongside it to relieve external symptoms.
How long should I use the cream?
Apply it thinly to the affected area 2 to 3 times a day until the symptoms have cleared. If there is no improvement after 7 days, see your doctor.
Can I use it if I am pregnant?
Only if your doctor has advised it. During pregnancy the pessary should be inserted with your finger, without the applicator.
Does it affect condoms?
Yes. The pessary and cream can damage latex condoms and diaphragms, so use additional contraceptive precautions for at least 5 days after treatment.
Can I use it for thrush elsewhere, such as nails or scalp?
No. This pack is only for vaginal thrush and the surrounding external area.
What if it is my first time having thrush?
See your doctor first. Canesten Thrush Combi should only be used if thrush has previously been diagnosed by a doctor.
