Key facts

Who it is for

• Wounds with no or low exudate
• Superficial wounds such as abrasions, superficial burns and post-operative wounds, as the manufacturer describes
• Carers who want to check the wound without lifting the dressing

Not suitable for: Not suitable for heavily exuding or infected wounds unless a healthcare professional advises it; ask your nurse, doctor or pharmacist if you are unsure.

How to use

1. Read the enclosed instructions carefully before use.
2. Clean the wound and surrounding skin, for example with saline or sterile water, and dry the surrounding skin well.
3. Choose a dressing that overlaps the wound edge by at least 1-2cm.
4. Remove the backing film without touching the adhesive, place the dressing over the wound, then remove the protective tabs.
5. Smooth the edges down with your fingers so the dressing seals.
6. Change it when exudate nears the edge, when clinically needed or after 7 days at most; lift the corners gently to remove.

Frequently asked questions

How long can I leave it on?

Up to 7 days, depending on the wound. Change it sooner if exudate reaches near the edge of the dressing.

Why has the dressing turned white or milky?

The hydrocolloid absorbs fluid and forms a gel, which looks milky. This is expected.

Is the smell on removal normal?

A characteristic odour can occur when the gel is removed. It should go once the wound is cleaned.

Can I see the wound through it?

Yes. The dressing is transparent so the wound can be checked without lifting it.
