Cuprofen Maximum Strength Ibuprofen 400mg Tablets

Cuprofen Maximum Strength contains ibuprofen 400mg per film-coated tablet. It is an anti-inflammatory painkiller for short-term relief of headache, migraine, toothache, backache, muscle, nerve and period pain, and cold or flu aches and fever. Choose 24, 48 or 96 tablets.

How to use

Adults and children aged 12 and over: one tablet with water, preferably after food, up to three times daily. Leave at least four hours between doses; maximum three tablets (1200mg) in 24 hours. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest time. Not for under-12s. Adults should seek advice if needed for more than 10 days; ages 12–18 should see a doctor if needed beyond three days. Seek advice sooner if symptoms worsen.

Do not take

• Do not take if allergic to ibuprofen, aspirin or another NSAID, including a previous asthma or allergic reaction to these medicines.
• Do not use with active or recurrent stomach ulcer/bleeding, previous NSAID-related gut bleeding or perforation, or severe heart, kidney or liver failure.
• Do not combine with other NSAIDs, including other ibuprofen products, or aspirin above 75mg daily. Ask a pharmacist even if taking prescribed low-dose aspirin.
• Do not use in the final three months of pregnancy. Avoid earlier in pregnancy unless a doctor advises it; use from 20 weeks can harm the unborn baby.

Check with a pharmacist

Discuss asthma, heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, smoking, stroke, kidney, liver or bowel conditions, lupus, dehydration, pregnancy planning or breastfeeding. Review all medicines, especially anticoagulants, steroids, antidepressants, blood-pressure medicines, diuretics, lithium and methotrexate. Contains lactose. It can mask infection symptoms; seek advice for persistent or worsening pain or fever.

Side effects and storage

Indigestion, abdominal pain, nausea or diarrhoea may occur. Stop and seek urgent help for black stools, vomiting blood, severe abdominal pain, facial swelling, breathing difficulty, chest pain or severe rash/blistering. Seek medical advice after an overdose. Store below 25°C, out of children’s sight and reach, and do not use after expiry.

No. Every tablet contains 400mg ibuprofen; only the quantity changes.

Can I combine this with another painkiller?
