People with eczema-prone or dermatitis-prone skin looking for a leave-on emollient

How to use

Apply liberally to dry areas two to three times a day, or as often as needed.
Smooth gently in the direction of hair growth rather than rubbing hard.
Reapply after washing or bathing to help lock in moisture while the skin is still slightly damp.
For sensitive skin, apply a small amount as a patch test first and check for any reaction.
For external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes.

Frequently asked questions

Is E45 Cream a steroid?

No. E45 Cream is a fragrance-free emollient moisturiser, not a steroid or a medicine. It moisturises the skin and helps relieve dryness and itch, so it can be used as often as needed.

Can I use E45 Cream on a baby?

E45 Cream is suitable for the whole family, including infants from one month of age. Apply a thin layer to dry areas and avoid the eye area. For very young babies, ask your pharmacist or health visitor if you are unsure.

Does E45 cure eczema?

No. An emollient does not cure eczema; it moisturises the skin, helps relieve dryness and itch, and supports the skin barrier as part of a daily routine. If your eczema is flaring or not controlled, speak to your pharmacist or GP about additional treatment.

Does E45 Cream contain lanolin?

Yes. E45 Cream contains hypoallergenic anhydrous lanolin (Medilan). If you know you are allergic to lanolin, do not use it and ask your pharmacist for a lanolin-free alternative.

Does E45 Cream contain SPF?

No. E45 Cream contains no SPF or sun protection. Use a separate sunscreen if you need protection from the sun.

Safety and storage

For external use only. Do not use if you are allergic to lanolin or any ingredient on the label.
Avoid contact with the eyes; rinse thoroughly with water if contact occurs.
Paraffin-based emollients can make clothing, bedding and dressings more easily flammable — keep away from naked flames and do not smoke nearby.
If symptoms persist or worsen, speak to your pharmacist or GP.
Store in a cool, dry place and keep out of the sight and reach of children.
