Ovex Threadworm Treatment
Ovex is a medication designed to treat threadworm (also called pinworm) infections in the gut. The active ingredient, mebendazole, belongs to a class of medications called ‘anthelmintics,’ which help eliminate parasitic worms. Suitable for adults and children aged 2 years and above, Ovex provides an effective solution for managing threadworm infections.
What are Threadworms?
Threadworms (Enterobius vermicularis) are tiny white parasitic worms that live in the bowel. Measuring about half an inch in length, they look like thin threads of white cotton, which is how they get their name.
How Common are Threadworms?
Threadworm infections are highly common, especially among children. Studies estimate that up to 40% of children under ten years old in the UK may be affected at any given time. Once one family member is infected, it’s easy for the infection to spread to others.
