Frequently asked questions

What do the omega-3 and vitamin D in cod liver oil do?

Under the EU/UK Register of Health Claims, the omega-3 fatty acids EPA and DHA contribute to the normal function of the heart, and vitamin D contributes to the maintenance of normal bones, normal muscle function and the normal function of the immune system. The heart benefit is obtained with a daily intake of 250mg of EPA and DHA.

What is the difference between cod liver oil and fish oil?

Cod liver oil is extracted from the liver of cod and naturally contains vitamins A and D as well as omega-3. General fish oil comes from the body of oily fish and is a source of omega-3 (EPA and DHA) but does not naturally carry the same vitamin A and D content. This product blends both, plus added vitamins.

How much omega-3 is in each capsule?

Each capsule provides cod liver oil (44%) combined with added fish oil (24%) to deliver omega-3 EPA and DHA, alongside vitamins A, D and E. For the exact milligram amounts of EPA and DHA, check the nutrition panel on the pack.

Can I take it with other supplements?

Cod liver oil already contains vitamins A and D, so avoid doubling up with other high-strength vitamin A or vitamin D products without advice. If you take prescription medicines, including blood thinners, or are pregnant or breastfeeding, check with your pharmacist or GP first.
