Frequently asked questions

Is Benylin Dry & Tickly the right cough syrup for a dry cough?

Yes. It is a soothing, glycerol-based syrup designed for an irritating dry, tickly cough rather than a chesty cough with phlegm. For a cough that brings up mucus, an expectorant product is more appropriate.

Can a 1-year-old have Benylin Dry & Tickly Cough Syrup?

This syrup is suitable from 1 year of age. Children aged 1 to 5 years take one 5ml spoonful per dose. Do not give it to babies under 1 year.

How often can I take Benylin Dry & Tickly?

Take a dose up to 3 or 4 times in 24 hours. Adults and children over 5 take two 5ml spoonfuls per dose; children aged 1 to 5 take one 5ml spoonful. Do not exceed the stated dose.

Does this cough syrup contain sugar or alcohol?

It contains glucose and sucrose, plus a small amount of ethanol (less than 100mg per 5ml). If you have been told you cannot tolerate some sugars, or you have diabetes, check with your pharmacist before use.
