- People who can take a product that causes drowsiness and will not drive afterwards
Not suitable for: children under 16; anyone allergic to the ingredients; people with liver or kidney disease. Speak to your pharmacist first if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or taking prescription medicines.
How to use
- Read the patient information leaflet inside the pack before you start.
- Adults and children aged 16 and over: take 2 capsules at bedtime with water.
- If you have already taken 4 doses of a paracetamol-containing product during the day, do not also take Night Nurse Capsules.
- Do not give to children under 16 unless a doctor advises it.
- Take only at night because it causes drowsiness. If symptoms persist, speak to your doctor or pharmacist.
Frequently asked questions
Does Night Nurse make you sleepy?
Yes. It contains promethazine, a sedating antihistamine, so it causes drowsiness. Take it only at bedtime, and do not drive or operate machinery if you are affected. Avoid alcohol while using it.
Can I take Night Nurse with paracetamol?
No. Each capsule contains 500mg of paracetamol, so you must not take it with any other paracetamol-containing product. Taking more than one paracetamol product at once risks a serious overdose.
Can I take Night Nurse and Day Nurse together?
Both contain paracetamol, so do not double up. If you have already taken 4 doses of a paracetamol-containing daytime product, do not take Night Nurse the same night. Follow the leaflet for spacing them out.
What age can take Night Nurse Capsules?
They are for adults and children aged 16 and over. They should not be given to children under 16 unless a doctor advises it.
