Frequently asked questions
Do I need to fast before the test?
No. This panel does not require fasting — you can eat and drink as normal before your appointment. Take your regular medications as usual unless your GP has told you otherwise.
When will I get my results?
Results are typically returned 3–5 working days after the lab receives your sample. You will receive a written report. If any biomarker is significantly abnormal, the pharmacist will contact you directly to explain and to recommend onward action.
Is testosterone included?
Yes. Total testosterone is measured as part of the 56-marker panel. If testosterone is low or borderline, the pharmacist will explain the result and recommend appropriate follow-up, which may include repeat testing in the morning when testosterone levels are highest.
What if a result is abnormal?
The pharmacist will explain the meaning of any out-of-range result and recommend the appropriate next step. This may be lifestyle change, repeat testing in a defined window, or referral to your GP. We do not diagnose or treat conditions in the pharmacy — abnormal results are managed in coordination with your GP.
Will my GP be informed?
Not automatically. We can send a copy of the report to your GP if you ask us to. Many people choose to share the report at their next GP appointment.
Is this an NHS service?
No. The Well Man Premier Plus Profile is a private health-screening service offered by Ways Pharmacy. NHS health checks are usually narrower in scope and are offered to adults aged 40–74 every 5 years.
